Eric Ravilious (1903 - 1942)
Belle Tout, Beachy Head Lighthouse - Limited Edition Giclee Print
From 1939, pencil and watercolour. By the time Ravilious painted this image, Belle Tout was no longer a working lighthouse and was being used as a private house, following the construction of the current Beachy Head lighthouse below the cliffs. Ravilious has created an interesting view over the cliffs and out to sea from the former lantern room of Belle Tout.
