Eric Ravilious, Beachy Head (1939) - Towner Limited Edition Giclee Print
Limited Edition Giclee Print
'Beachy Head' by Eric Ravilious is one of the artists most popular works. Painted in 1939 it features on of Eastbourne's most iconic landmarks. The lighthouse was built in 1902, and replaced the earlier Belle Tout ( which features in another work by Ravilious )
The painting was exhibited to great acclaim at Arthur Tooth and Sons’ Gallery in New Bond Street, London, and it was after this exhibition that Ravilious was commissioned as a war artist to paint his now famous series of coastal views.
The original painting 'Beachy Head' is now part of the Towner Collection.
