Giclee print: Eric Ravilious, Caravans, (1936) -Limited Edition Giclee Print
Limited Edition Giclee Print
Watercolour on paper, 1936. These are actually Fever Wagons – used first in the Boer War, or possibly even earlier in the Crimean War, and then shipped back to Newhaven, Sussex, and parked at the chalk pits near Peggy Angus’s house ‘Furlongs’ where Ravilious was residing. Ravilious asked if he could purchase them, and subsequently made one into a bedroom and the other into a studio, where presumably this haunting work was painted.
This high quality giclee print is part of a limited edition of 950.
