Eric Ravilious (1903 – 1942) was a British painter, designer, illustrator and wood-engraver, renowned for his iconic watercolour landscapes of the South Downs and English countryside. The Towner in Eastbourne (where Ravilious grew up) has long been the custodian of the largest collection of his work.
No. 29 Bus (1934) depicts the shell of an abandoned double-decker bus in a field in rural Essex. This painting is one of a series of paintings of discarded vehicles and machinery found in the countryside by Ravilious near his home in Great Bardfield, Essex.
The original painting is part of the Towner Collection. Dimensions of original work: W55.1 x H45cm
