Newt Pond - Custom Print
King & McGaw

Eric Ravilious (1903 – 1942) was a British painter, designer, illustrator and wood-engraver, renowned for his iconic watercolour landscapes of the South Downs and English countryside. The Towner in Eastbourne (where Ravilious grew up) has long been the custodian of the largest collection of his work.
Newt Pond (1932) was painted by Ravilious whilst living with his wife in Great Bardfield, Essex. It depicts a farm setting with a pear orchard on the outskirts of the Essex village. In his younger years teaching at Eastbourne College of Art, Ravilious had painted two versions of Pond at East Dean Farm, a very similar setting and favourite destination of his which he often visited on rambles with students from Eastbourne College of Art.
The original painting is part of the Towner Collection. Dimensions of original work: W51 x H38.3cm
