Channel Steamer Leaving Harbour - Custom Print
King & McGaw

Eric Ravilious (1903 – 1942) was a British painter, designer, illustrator and wood-engraver, renowned for his iconic watercolour landscapes of the South Downs and English countryside. The Towner in Eastbourne (where Ravilious grew up) has long been the custodian of the largest collection of his work.
Channel Steamer Leaving Harbour (1935) depicts the steamer SS Rouen as it left for Dieppe, and was completed by Ravilious at the Hope Inn in Newhaven, within a day of the initial sketch. Ravilious usually took several weeks or even months to finish a watercolour.
The original painting is part of the Towner Collection. Dimensions of original work: W53 x 45.8 cm
